0/0 Paradox
Yep. I've been think about this lately and I think its really interesting. 0 is a cool number and I've thought about all this paradoxes here myself.
Is 0/0:
-1?
-Undefined?
-0?
Lets start with the first. We all know that 2/2 = 1 and 4/4 = 1. Any whole number over the same number equals to one. In algebric form its simply x/x = 1.
At the same time, isn't it supposed to be undefined? You cannot divide something by 0. Its just..you know..undefined. Same reason why tangent90 is undefined. Tangent90 has no solution because tangent can be written as tangent(x) = sine(x)/cosine(x) and by substituting x = 90, we get tangent90 = sine90/cosine90 and since cosine90 = 0, tangent90 has no solution.
Now, why would 0/0 be 0? Thats because 0 divided by anything wil be 0. Then again, you cannot divide 0 by 0. So does that leave 0/0 to be 1? Hmm..
Second:
If you took a test and the maximum number of points you can get is 0 and you got 0, your score would be 0/0. What does that mean? Does that mean you passed, failed or got full marks? Looking back at the previous paradox, how could you have passed? If the percentage needed to pass is 50, 50/100 x 0 = 0. Following this logic, you couldn't have failed either. This leaves you with either full marks or none at all, or did you exceed the maximum amount of points scored? Let me explain.. So you get back your paper and think that you got full marks. But then again, all you got was 0. And 0 is.. nothing so if you got nothing, how is it possible for you to get full marks? Don't go around saying that the maximum amount ofpoints you can get is nothing because that is the minimum too. And if 0/0 = 1 (from previous explaination) does that mean you scored more than the maximum? But how is that possible when the maxiumum amount of points you can score is 0? Think about it..
Anyway, time for more serious stuff.
Came back from malaysia on Sunday. Certain parts of the trips were fun while some days were just plain boring. Yep, I spent one of the days in my cousin's study room playing with his game console with my other counsins. Luckily my aunt brought her 2 dogs over and we played with them in the house as they were allowed in and one of them urinated on the floor under the table and the other dog licked it. Cool eh?
Enough said.
